Central Fire Station Public Meeting

Event Date:
Thursday, January 6, 2011 - 7:00pm
Location:
Town Hall Meeting Room, Town Hall

A public meeting to discuss the need for the proposed Central Fire Station will be held Thursday, Jan. 6, at the Town Hall Meeting Room. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Town officials said it will be cheaper to build a new central fire station at a projected cost of $20.5 million instead of renovating it at an estimated cost of $29.2 million. The current structure doesn’t meet the state’s current building codes for public safety buildings, which town officials said have to be able to stand up to certain amounts of wind, rain and seismic activity such as an earthquake.
