Call for Candidates to Serve on The Claims Committee of the RTM

The Appointments Committee is seeking candidates from the membership of the Representative Town Meeting to serve on the Claims Committee for the remainder 2018-2019 term. The Claims Committee is a Special Committee of the RTM as defined in section VI.A of the RTM Rules
1 Regular Members and, 1 Alternate Member ( subject to nomination for regular member) .are being sought. Candidates will stand for nomination by the Appointments Committee for appointment by the RTM at the March, 2019 RTM Meeting.

The Claims Committee
The Claims Committee, working with the Town Attorney, is delegated the power invested in the RTM to approve appropriations of the Board of Estimate and Taxation for the payment, compromise, or settlement of claims against the town. Moderator of the RTM serves as chair and voting member.
The Committee meets as needed, usually in executive session, to discuss pending litigation.
The term of the appointment is commensurate with the term of the current RTM and is subject to ┬ž306 of the Town of Greenwich Municipal Code.
Skill sets critical to the healthy functioning of the Claims Committee include:

    Litigation
    Risk management,
    Negotiation
    General legal expertise
    Insurance expertise

How to become a Candidate
Candidates will please submit a Candidate Form (download) and CV to the secretary of the Appointments Committee at jude.collins@greenwichct.org.
Submisions will be accepted until 12 noon on Friday January 18th.
Interviews and nominations will take place on Tuesday, Feb 5 at 8 pm at a public meeting of the Appointments Committee in the Cone Room on the 2nd Floor of Town Hall.
